INTRODUCTION into Rock Climbing – Course Overview


This course is designed for those who have never tried rock climbing and want to try it in a safe, supportive environment. All ages are welcomed. Over three sessions, you’ll have a feel on the wall, learn basic techniques, and discover the joy of climbing. Led by experienced instructors, this course is perfect for small groups of 26 people, ensuring personalised attention and a fun, collaborative atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to climb for fitness, adventure, or social connection, this course will set you up for success.

2 hours over 1 day. What is included in the price: entrance to venue, climbing equipment.

Participants of all ages and basic fitness can subscribe. It is advisable to be free from injuries that can be aggravated by exercises. The course hours: day time from 9.00 to 15.00 at Gneis or other climbing centres in Oslo upon preliminary agreement.

Climbing gear: shoes rental and harness with belay device is included at Gneis climbing centres and can be rented at other centres.

How to dress. Bring your lunch and water bottle. You can get warm drinks in the caffe at your breaks time. take comfortable clothing: trousers that do not restricte body movements and a T-shirt. Sleepers, flip flops or trainers can be smart to have for walking on the floor.

Language of choice: apart from Norwegian you can book a course in Bulgarian, Russian or English.

Communication: Learn clear, effective communication between climber and belayer to ensure a safe and smooth climb.
Body Balance: Develop techniques for maintaining balance and using your body efficiently on the wall.
Autobelay & Top Rope: Practice climbing with autobelay devices and top rope systems, building confidence at your own pace.
Getting Down: Learn safe methods for descending, including lowering and downclimbing.
Core Strength Exercises: Simple, effective exercises to build the strength and endurance needed for climbing.
Warming Up: Essential warm-up routines, including traverse climbing, to prepare your body and prevent injuries.
Injury Prevention: Tips and techniques to protect yourself from common climbing injuries.
